Sustainable waste management is a great challenge in many fast growing countries. Many countries are still relying on landfill for waste management, which requires more lands and has become not sustainable. This session highlights the importance of cross-disciplinary approaches to provide the innovative solutions for realising sustainable development in the future society, notably towards smart and integrated waste management to promote circular economy. Some case studies in China and Malaysia are highlighted.
Dr Chew Tin Lee received her Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Cambridge. She is the Associate Professor in the Faculty of Chemical & Energy Engineering, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Malaysia. She is passionate on promoting sustainable organic waste management through 3R campaign and composting. Lee is the Associate Editor for the Journal of Cleaner Production (Elsevier). She severs as the Guest Editor for Clean Technology & Environmental Policy (Springer). She is now the key driver and Co-chair for the International Conference of Low Carbon in Asia.
