Abstract:
Scientific paper is a list of the author's research work and a carrier of research information to the reader. The publication of high-level scientific paper includes the research intention, topic selection, writing and submission, peer review, and the final publication. The process is the coherency of author, editor, review, and readers. Paper writing methods and journal submission skills are important to promote the publication of scientific paper and improve the influence of researchers. In this seminar, Prof Zhen He, the editor-in-chief of Journal of Hazardous Materials and Water Environment Research, will expound the basic process of publishing a high-level paper, the precautions and plus points, including the initial intention of publishing the paper, as well as the abstract, introduction, results, checking notes, innovation and conformity, etc. The change of the mainstream way of obtaining papers in the current era and the behind-the-scenes actions of reviewers and editors in the process of submitting papers, and some important points of the paper modification and the rejection of the paper will be also explained. At the end of the session, Prof He will introduce the academic structure and research interests of the Department of Energy, Environment and Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis.
About the speaker:
Professor Zhen He is the Laura and William Jens Chair Professor and Associate Chair of the Department of Energy, Environmental and Chemical Engineering at Washington University in St. Louis, USA. He received his undergraduate degree from Tongji University, his master's degree from Technical University of Denmark, and his PhD from Washington University in St. Louis. He has served as an assistant professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and an associate professor and professor at Virginia Tech. Professor He has long been committed to the research and development of sustainable wastewater treatment and resource recovery technologies, his research covers: wastewater biological treatment technology bioenergy recycling, bioelectrochemical technology, sustainable desalination technology, bioremediation technology, etc. He has published more than 260 papers with total citations of more than 20,000, and has been selected as a Clarivate Analytics Highly Cited Scholar in 2018. He currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of Water Environment Research and Journal of Hazardous Materials (JHM), and was elected Fellow of the International Water Association (IWA) in 2020 and Fellow of the Water Environment Federation (WEF) in 2022.
